DON'T PUT YOUR ENGLISH IN THE DRAWER!

Don’t put your English in the drawer alongside your English Certificate. Your English should walk hand in hand with you, navigating your professional avenues, or else it will become rusty and insufficient.

The technical English that you so desperately want to acquire, will not come to you. I am sure you know this principle, as it applies to anything we want in life. Come and practise (“practice” in the USA) your technical English with me, be it in conversation classes or regular classes.

The results have been encouraging to both sides, so I am more than happy to include a few references upon answering your enquiries.

This Saturday (9am and 6pm GMT) we will be discussing the challenges and lessons learnt (“learned” is American English) from moving departments within the same company. Share your story.

This Sunday (9am and 6pm GMT) we will be discussing the boundaries/differences between life coaching and psychology – in practical terms.

Remember, this is not about subject/content training but rather learn different expressions, vocabulary that may certainly be “transferable” to other areas.

An interesting anecdote: recently, I have decided to discuss History with my “corporate governance” kind of student from Mozambique. She was stuttering to say “Germany” (to her surprise) and was debating whether it was “Germany” or “Deutschland”. She also told me that the only circumstance in which she uses the word “visceral” is to refer to her fat. We laughed about this, but the point is, there are words that you may not pronounce everyday within the context of your work, but it would nevertheless look good if you could pronounce them without hesitation.

Now, even though I am being a little bit unfair here, given that this happened when she had to think fast, I hope you understand the point I am trying to make – useful vocabulary may be found in the most unexpected conversations.

So come join us this weekend, even if you are not in need of therapy 😊.

PROMOTION: Free access for the month of November 2023.
